International social work organisations, like IASSW, are for activists a difficult territory to navigate. Various Internal and external pressures often lead to compromises and contradictions in decision making. Despite these inherent difficulties, the current President of IASSW, Vimla Nadkarni,has managed to demonstrate true leadership, promoting an agenda of firm commitment to social justice. It is for this reason that I wholeheartedly welcome Vimla's nomination and support her candidacy for the post of President of IASSW. To this effect, I invite all members, who prioritize principles of social justice and community action, to support Vimla in the forthcoming election.
